Why THIS training?
Taught by Sharon Kanfoush, ERYT500, C-IAYT this training is in Resilience Yoga which is Hatha Yoga in the Kripalu lineage. It is a somewhat slower, deeply meditative style that emphasizes gentle self compassion & self exploration, and marrying the movement with the breath as a means to focus inward, move slowly & with awareness as practitioners explore & sense cues from the body to find the alignment best for them while approaching but not exceeding their “edge” to garner the greatest benefits from their practice. It encourages modifications & use of props whenever needed or desired to achieve this goal, fitting the posture to them rather than forcing themselves into the posture.
This training is scheduled in consultation with you, but you can take up to a year if needed to fit around your life! It will include:
• a minimum of 20 required hours and up to 40 hours of live (synchronous) interactive Zoom sessions or in-studio meetings scheduled by arrangement
• a 92-page course manual

Testimonial for Sharon Kanfoush
“I received my 200-Hour Yoga Teacher training from Sharon. I originally came to her with very limited knowledge of yoga, but a plea that I needed make a serious commitment to my overall health.
My training was supposed to begin just as New York businesses began to shut down due to COVID-19. Sharon offered to train me through the pandemic, adjusting my classes and coursework to a virtual platform. Not once did I feel like I was missing out on an in-person experience, as our one-on-one virtual sessions allowed me to ask questions, discuss the course material, and ensure I had mastered the postures.
Sharon broke down the history, philosophies, and practice of yoga in a way that was understandable and relatable. She also taught me that yoga is for everyone, which not only made the training less intimidating for me, but also empowered me as a future yoga instructor.
After Sharon’s teachings, I feel capable of managing my own mental and physical wellness and excited to share this wonderful tool with others.
Whether you’re completely new to yoga or have mastered the asanas, Sharon has a unique ability of meeting and challenging you at your own level.”

TESTIMONIALS:
“This training was actually so much more than I expected.”
“I absolutely feel like I learned enough to safely teach a group chair class. I also know that you and the FaceBook group will be there as an ongoing resource in the event I have any questions. The manual provides enough information about what to watch for in clients/students and how to encourage them to tune in and listen to and take care of their body. I know I will go back to that workbook again and again as a resource.”
“The online content and manual was comprehensive, well organized, and easy to follow. I think it is a valuable training course for all yoga teachers whether they teach Hatha yoga on the mat or in the chair. I learned to be more gentle and stay aware of all levels of ability.”
“I really felt like everything was helpful. I especially like the focus on teaching students to take care of themselves and learn to recognize their own limits, teaching them to tune into and listen to their bodies. I liked the focus on slow deliberate movement and marrying movement with the breath. I also felt the seven movements of the spine lay the groundwork for so much of our movement, I don’t think they have ever been specifically focused on like that in any other movement trainings I have done.”
“The online content and the manual are great resources to refer back to. I know I will use both repeatedly. I loved the blank lesson plans for organizing classes. It was helpful that there was a completed example to use as a guide as well. The pause, review, reflect sections were helpful to solidify what was being taught.”
“I think this course or one like it should be included in all teacher training programs. It is helpful for putting yourself in another person’s place, trying to modify the yoga poses so that they are accessible for everyone.”
“I totally fell in love with chair yoga in this class. I had gone into it thinking that it would be yoga appropriate for individuals who were unable to participate in mat yoga but realize now that it is really just a different approach to yoga that is equally beneficial to mat yoga. I have done both mat yoga and now chair yoga and I feel like chair yoga is definitely relevant as it’s own practice. I really believe it increases accessibility not just for those who physically would be challenged by mat yoga but by those who may not have room or time for a mat yoga practice in their lives. Chair yoga requires nothing more than a persona and a chair; most people have a chair somewhere in their homes. Chair yoga just seems like a universally accessible approach to yoga to me. Thank you so much for offering this training.”
